At Ensera Design, responsibility is not an add-on, it is part of our DNA. It guides how we think, how we act, and the initiatives we invest in. Being responsible means considering the needs of others, recognizing our role in the world around us, and making deliberate choices about the way we design. It applies both to our own business operations, and our commitment to support our clients with theirs.

Sustainability

Advancing environmental best practices across our business

We take our role in improving the environmental footprint of the healthcare industry we are part of seriously. To reduce our own energy use, emissions and waste, we monitor our carbon footprint via a third-party auditor, and source materials and services from local sustainable suppliers where possible.

Members of our team play a pivotal role in the wider Ensera Group’s in-house environmental and sustainability committee, and we share Ensera’s commitment to aim for Net Zero by 2045.

We have been the recipient of multiple IDEA Awards, including recognition for sustainable medical product design. And we’re delighted that our UK site has been awarded a prestigious Ecovadis Gold rating, placing it in the top 5% of companies assessed worldwide for sustainability.

Social responsibility

We believe companies should contribute positively to the communities they are part of. For us, this takes many forms: creating opportunities, supporting inclusion, and making time for our people to grow.

Ethnic Diversity Excellence programme
This proactive initiative aims to address the lack of diversity in the design industry. Each year we support students from ethnic and heritage backgrounds with internships, mentoring and funding, equipping the next generation of designers and engineers to succeed.

Women in design and development
A UK Design Museum study (2018) found that only 22% of people in design occupations were women. Our internal networking group of female employees from across the Ensera Design team meets monthly to share experiences and ideas that support the careers and professional development of women in our business.

Learning and development days
Three times a year, the entire Ensera Design team takes dedicated time to explore new skills, perspectives and ideas. This ensures our people continue to grow and bring fresh thinking to our clients.

Our corporate responsibility doesn’t stop with our own business operations and people. As experts in inclusive and sustainable product design, we consider the implications for people and planet at each stage of a project, identifying the potential long-term impact of what we create, and supporting our clients to advocate for this within their own businesses too.
