Personalizing prescription drug management.
Berkshire Biomedical
COPA
Timely, accurate, and precise doses of prescribed liquid oral medications.
The challenge
Berkshire came to us with an idea that we helped foster, grow, and develop into an end-product that changes drug delivery conformance.
While it has good intentions, traditional prescription medication can come with a host of difficulties from tracking proper adherence to preventing medication sharing. Patients and prescribers alike are keen for a better solution.

The Solution
The COPA System combines a mobile-enabled, drug delivery device with a cloud-hosted, HIPPA compliant data management platform, designed to treat and monitor patients virtually. It features fingerprint and dental recognition to confirm the intended user before delivering precision dosing.

The Execution
We laid out a strategy and the path that would take Berkshire’s patent from an idea and grow it into their vision. Ideation began on the best way to deliver drug to the end-user, evolving into system architectures and form factors. Users influenced the directions forward and guided us to the optimal result. Multiple formative studies were conducted, reinforcing the path forward and helping to ensure success in the summative outcome. The engineering team was responsible for making the vision reality through rounds of concept prototyping, tooling, and ultimately pre-production parts.

The Impact
A user-friendly drug delivery device for patients, physicians, and pharmacists.
The COPA System is a revolutionary virtual care and prescription drug management system designed to become the standard-of-care in personalized medication delivery and adherence monitoring capability.
