The Challenge

Designing and Engineering a non-intimidating, full-body imaging system aesthetic

Create a full-body, 360-degree imaging system with 92 cameras that reduces patient anxiety, fits within clinical spaces, ensures precise camera placement, Allows for transport and assembly by two technicians and integrates Canfield’s brand identity.

The Solution

Our team developed a modular pod architecture, lightweight thermoformed shell, and welcoming aesthetic to support rapid capture, ease of service, and award winning unique visual and functional design.

The Execution

Our team partnered with Canfield Scientific, starting with designing a unique and highly aesthetic model that conveyed comfort. Utilizing Canfield’s positioning of 46 dual-camera pods (92 cameras total), our team engineering the housings of the pods for modularly and assure precision. The external housing uses thin-walled, thermoformed Kydex for lightweight structure, with removable front covers facilitating service, while the internal metal armature was engineering for robustness and lightweight transport. Prototypes were generated using virtual overlays (using HoloLens), and to verify component placement and gain user confidence in the designs. The form was refined to feel open, soft, non-threatening, yet convey high technology. Design supports whole- or half-body configurations and fits in standard clinic rooms (~8.75 ft × 8.75 ft).
