A redesigned, user-friendly handheld therapy device for migraine and cluster headache sufferers seeking non-invasive, reliable relief.

The Challenge

Improve usability, dosing, and charging in migraine therapy device.

ElectroCore and our team set out to redesign gammaCore to address prior user frustrations: simplify dosing refill, make charging intuitive, and refresh aesthetics without compromising medical reliability.

The Solution

Our Team applied human-factors research, foam model prototyping, and a refined UI with tactile controls; introduced slider input, inductive charging case, RFID-based dose tracking, and minimal “dead-front” display.

The Execution

The design process began with formative interviews gathering feedback on ergonomic form, aesthetics, dosing behaviors, and carry/charging habits. Multiple foam study models allowed rapid iteration of shape and interface. Based on user scenario walk-throughs, a side slider was added for stimulation intensity control, with feedback surfaces for tactile confidence. The travel case was redesigned to double as an inductive charging base—eliminating exposed ports. RFID tagging was built into the device to streamline refill initiation digitally. UI design emphasized minimalism via a dead-front display showing only essential feedback during use. Attention to materials, decals, and tactile finishes reinforced premium medical product quality.
