On-the-go smoking cessation
McNeil
Nicorette Quickmist
Fast effective mouthspray to relieve cravings in a convenient format.
The Challenge
Developing a spray delivery device for a new liquid nicotine replacement therapy that has consumer appeal, achieves efficacy and is safe to use.
The Nicorette team had developed a new formulation, suitable for oralmucosal application but needed a new delivery device that achieved functional requirements but was also appealing to use in social situations for people seeking to quit smoking and vaping.

The Solution
The Quickmist device contains a reservoir and spray nozzle, encased in an easy-to-use and pocket or handbag friendly form.

The Execution
Starting with research with consumers to understand opportunities habits related to quitting smoking, we developed and tested concepts for the new device. We then optimized technical performance through rigorous prototyping and testing. And developed a unique pop-up nozzle housing which provides an engaging fiddle-factor. Addressing safety issues, the product meets child-resistance requirements while being senior-friendly.

The Impact
A highly successful, easy-to-use product, helping millions of people stop smoking.
Nicorette Quick Mist is the first spray dispenser of its kind. Selling across global markets, it achieved the highest sales for Nicorette after gum.
