Providing continuous intrauterine data to improve IVF success rates
Verso Biosense
Iris
Integrating novel sensing technology and wireless connectivity into the form factor of existing intrauterine device to provide valuable insights into uterine health.
The Challenge
The uterus sustains life; yet remains poorly understood.
Because the uterus is hard to access, tests often rely on invasive procedures like biopsies. As a result, we obtain only isolated snapshots instead of continuous information.

The Solution
Design and development of a flexible yet robust intrauterine device that enables sensing technology, flexes during use, ensures safe insertion, and maintains user safety.

The Execution
Through a combination of physical characterization testing and computational modeling, we developed a flexible chassis system that allowed the device to flex during use but that was robust enough to be inserted and ensure user safety. This was all underpinned by user-centered design principles, ensuring the user steps were comparable to existing intrauterine devices.
We also supported the design and development of encapsulation methods, that allowed the sensing technology the necessary exposure to the environment, while ensuring the device is sealed and flexible.
To ensure both design and regulatory requirements were met, we sourced and thoroughly tested approved medical-grade materials.

The Impact

Enhancing women’s wellbeing with insights into the dynamic uterine environment.
